A Grabiek in support of Public Television

Illustrator, fly-tier, teacher and Artistic Roots Cooperative member, Tom Grabiek is donating one of his pieces to the New Hampshire Public Television 2012 Spring Auction, May 4-13, 2012.

The illustration titled, "Baranov" is a matted and framed signed print, and could possibly be selected for the special on-line preview group.

Tom has been a fisherman since he was a young boy.  He's been tying flies for 50 years, and illustrating flies for over 3o.  His wife Kathy does the calligraphy that sometimes accompanies the illustrations.

If any other artists would like to support New Hampshire Public Television, they can contact the organization directly.

Successful fundraiser and soup competition

Chef Rob Bouvier of Tell’s of Waterville made the winning soup at the Artistic Roots 8th Annual Souper Bowl held last month.  Artistic Roots Cooperative President Heather Baldwin presented a certificate of appreciation to Bouvier on March 1, 2012.

More than 150 diners chose Chef Bouvier’s recipe for Roasted Sweet Potato with Sage Soup over the 18 other entries that ranged from chowders to miso soup.  The soup donors were 6 Burner Bistro, Heather Baldwin, Barbara Beeler, Beyond the Bean, D’Acres, Donna Castor, Chase Street Market, Foster’s Steak House, Fugaky, George’s Seafood, Italian Farmhouse, Cheryl Johnson, Mad River Tavern, Denise Plante-Renaud, Thai Smile, The Tell, Walter’s Basin, Jeff Woolley, Woodpecker Pub.

The Cooperative was raising money for its Art for Veterans Project, that consists of free art classes and demonstrations for veterans.  The program includes classes on drawing, felting, fired glass, mosaics, oil painting, pottery, printmaking, and shaker box building.  There will also be demonstrations on blacksmithing, fly tying and woodturning.  The classes and demonstrations will be held at two different venues in Plymouth, the Artistic Roots gallery at 73 Main Street, On the Common, and Whole Family Village on Highland Street.  A schedule will be available soon on the Artistic Roots website at www.artisticroots.com.
